LEAGUE STRUCTURE
The league will have three divisions this year as follows:

Division 3: 9,10 & 11-year-olds
This division will consist of players signing up individually. Players will train one day a week together as a group (cohort) with MBU-assigned coaches. This skill-development-focused division will have jamboree-style games on weekends at the Mahone Bay Centre. We encourage players new to futsal (soccer) to join this group for a fun learning experience; the environment will be low-pressure because of the jamboree-style games. We are looking for coaches; if you're interested in coaching this group, please reach out – [email protected].
No rankings will be recorded for Division 3.

Division 2: 11, 12 & 13-year-olds
Division 1: 13, 14,15 & 16-year-olds

Division 1 and 2 will consist of “player-formed” teams (teams that played last year in this/these divisions are encouraged to regroup and register). Teams are responsible for finding their coaching team. MBU will arrange for practice venues, kit, and equipment. Teams get to train one day a week. As in the past, one game a week on Saturdays between 3-7 pm. Each registered team must have at least 4 players of the opposite sex (this will be non-negotiable). Team roster size is 12 players max.

New players to futsal without a team are encouraged to reach out to us to connect with potential teams ([email protected]); we can also support players interested in building their own teams.

FOR PLAYER ORGANIZED/FORMED TEAMS
For returning teams - team organisers can reach out to us for a team link for registration. For new or reconfigured teams, organisers can register their team using the registration link below, and they will be prompted to enter their players' names and contact information. This will allow the system to send the players invites to confirm their registration on said team. Alternatively, after registering their team, they/organisers can reach out to us at [email protected] for a team link/code that they can share with their players.

They will need to provide the following:
  1. Team name
  2. Division they will be playing in
  3. Main contact (Name, address, email, and cell phone #s)
  4. Coach's name and contact details
  5. Team captain(s) name and address

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the age groups this year?
There are three divisions in this year's league as follows:
  • Division 3: 9,10 & 11 years on December 31, 2026
  • Division 2: 11, 12 & 13 years on December 31, 2026
  • Division 1: 13, 14, 15 & 16 years on December 31, 2026

Is there a league for U9 players?
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to run a league for U9 players. We encourage players under 9 years to sign up for our Winter PLAY program which runs for seven Sundays in January-February 2027. More to come!

What about for 16+ and adult players?
We do not have the capacity to run a league for 16+ and adult players. We encourage players 16+ to participate in our weekly Sunday drop-in games taking place on Sundays from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Bayview Community School. For more information, please contact Brian Limoyo, our adult drop in lead, at [email protected].

What if I am new to futsal and do not have a team?
Please reach out to us ([email protected]), and we will help find you a team. We can also support a group of players build a team if needed.

How do I order Kit?
The cost covers kits from our partners SENDA. Details on kit orders will be finalised soon. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]. To allow this to happen each player should pay the full registration fee of $250 before the registration deadline.

How does the League communicate with families and players?
We will be using the Spond App for all communication. We will use other means (text, phone calls or emails) as and when needed especially in emergencies.

What is your cancellation policy?
You can review the policy by clicking HERE. You will also receive a copy of this when you register.

Is there a place MBU recommends I get shoes and equipment?
We have a formal partnership with SENDA (https://sendaathletics.com/) and we’ll be sharing any discounts they are able to provide for their kit and equipment. The Bridgewater Sport Chek has in the past offered discounts for players playing in the South Shore Futsal league - we will be following up with them again this season.

What is the commitment? What if a player misses a practice or game? Player commitment is a huge part of the way we gauge progress/success in our programs. If players are going to miss any games, we would appreciate knowing in advance so that teams can plan accordingly.

Is there travel involved with this league?
Yes. Within the South Shore, games and practices can be in Mahone Bay, Chester, Lunenburg or Bridgewater. Teams from other parts of the South Shore are welcome to register, and that could mean games being played in other locations too.

If I want to get involved and help out my kids team what should I do?
We would love to work with you! Please reach out to us at [email protected]

If my player is sick and can't make practice or a game how should I get in touch with the coach?
Communicating through the Spond App is the best way to reach your coach and the league.

How many games will there be this season?
This will be determined by the number of teams registered.
